Shining Star EP – Fields of Dawn – CD

£4.50

The three track EP, Shining Star, is released on April 5th. Written about and in memory my wonderful friend, Laura Hopkinson, who died of bowel cancer last November, aged just 42. The release is also dedicated to her two young children Ivy and George. 100% of the profits will be shared between MacMillan and St Oswald’s Hospice who did so much to help Laura.

I never got to meet Laura in person, but the nature of social media these days allows you to make and form amazing friendships, which I did with Laura. She was the most special, kind, generous and beautiful soul. She always did everything she could to support my fundraising and raising awareness about bowel cancer, but more than that she was just an amazing friend. Laura’s courage and determination to live for as long as possible for Ivy and George and the rest of her family knew no bounds. At the same time she made time for so many other people. She was loved by so many, a real testament to the amazing woman she was.

  1. Shining Star (Electric)
  2. Final Dawn
  3. Shining Star (Acoustic)

The lead track Shining Star is an 8-minute anthem. With this track I decided to break all the rules and go completely over the top to celebrate everything about Laura. The acoustic version is a stripped back version and gives an insight in to how I come up with the concept for some of the songs. The other track Final Dawn is a lovely pop song that was written as a farewell from Fields of Dawn. I have since decided that although Fields of Dawn will be put away for the the time being, it will come back when the time is right to help and support in any way that it can.

All support for this release is greatly appreciated x
