The Bowelbabe Teddy Bears are supporting the Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK, which was set up by the late Dame Deborah James to raise money to fund clinical trials and research into personalised medicine for cancer patients & supporting campaigns to raise awareness of bowel cancer. ​All profits raised from every sale will be donated directly to the fund.
I met Deborah in 2017 in Richmond for my charity book, The Record, and my first sight of her was walking down a cobbled street in wonderful high heeled red shoes, hence the reason for the red bears. We spent an evening talking about her life and she was quite amazing. Her passion to change things was inspiring and she is one of the reasons why I have continued to raise awareness and carry on with the fundraising. Deborah also took a keen interest in my mum’s bowel cancer experience. I’d lost Mum 12 months earlier.
The news of Deborah’s death is devastating. At this time I’m sending lots of love to her family who have lost a wife, mother, sister and daughter x
