Today has been one of those very quiet days with little to report. However, one thing that I have learnt over the last few months is the importance of being kind to myself and to make sure I have the occasional treat. This doesn’t mean I have to spend loads on money on things, as even things that don’t cost anything can gibe that necessary boost. I’ve treated myself to a couple of vinyls from Record Store Day which was held last weekend. I didn’t manage to get to a shop at the time, so I had to wait until this weekend when the stocks not sold in stores were made available online by the independent record shops, so they still benefit from the orders. To be honest there weren’t too many releases that caught my eye, but the two I did purchase I am very happy with. The 1221 blue vinyl edition by Ryan Hamilton is an album I hadn’t bought when it originally came out on CD and Download last November. The DNA single by Sea Girls is a bit more of a gamble. I’ve recently bought the downloads of their first two albums, so this special release for Record Store Day is a track I haven’t even heard yet!
Sticking to music, today I have finally nailed a mix I am 100% happy with of the Goodbye Farewell track. I think why I have found this one so hard is that I am altering / replacing tracks on a song I recorded almost two years ago, and I’ve certainly got better at recording, so making the new tracks sit with the old tracks has not been easy. But an interesting challenge. I now need to move on to recording the final two tracks to complete the album. I am still looking for suggestions for the album title. I think there are maybe 3-4 in the running at the moment.
In other news I have been attempting to clean my oven this weekend. I have been pleased with the initial results I’ve achieved using Oven Pride, but I now realise that it will take at least one or even two more goes to get it really spic and span. Oh joy! 😂 The person who inspired me to do this has a lot to answer for! 😅 Until tomorrow x
