There is something quite serene and graceful about the sight of a Spitfire. The fly past at Henley today was pretty impressive and a reminder of the massive sacrifice that generations past made for us, so that we can enjoy so much of what we take for granted today. Both my parents lived through the second world war. Dad would talk about the doodlebugs over Windsor Great Park when they were playing school cricket. Mum remembered Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands living in exile on Maidenhead Thicket close to The Coach and Horses pub where she lived with her parents.

The weather was determined to have a say at Henley Regatta today. I wrapped up warm wearing a GirlvsCancer t-shirt under the poppy suit. Sure enough the rain arrived bang on cue at 4.00 catching many people out who hadn’t brought their umbrellas with them. Final day tomorrow I am knackered 😆

I had an email today from my contact at the record factory in the Far East where the vinyl LP will be made. After a minor hiccup with the audio files that were uploaded to their site, everything is now proofed and passed, so it is now a waiting game for the vinyl LPs to arrive. If they do arrive towards the end of the summer I will definitely bring the release forward to the Autumn. All profits raised will be divided between three cancer charities. Bowel Cancer UK, Love Hope Strength and The Bowel Movement.

I posted a little video tribute about Deborah James on social media today. It is most likely my final words for the time being after what has been a tremendously sad and difficult week for many in the bowel cancer community, especially those still living the disease. It’s time for me to pick up the Bowelbabe teddy bear fundraising reins again.

These were my words that accompanied the video… “One of the brightest lights went out this week and can rest in peace. Deborah touched so many people. I can only aspire to try and cram into my life a fraction of what Debs managed in her life. No-one has ever done as much to raise the profile of bowel cancer, raise so much money and bring so many people together. Perhaps for me it was what she meant to people on that one-to-one human level that has been somewhat overshadowed. Away from the public glare she was a friend and support to so many x Rebellious Hope will forever be associated with this wonderful woman. My thoughts are very much with her family, who have lost a wife, mother, sister and daughter 💔 xxx”
