Before I write my normal daily journal, I must send a huge amount of love and best wishes to Laura Hopkinson (@livinglife_withlaura on Instagram) who is one of the kindest, generous and giving souls there can possibly be. She is living with stage 4 bowel cancer and does so much to support others affected by cancer. Today after a sudden and unexpected seizure, she has been told she has nine lesions on her brain. Sending her the most positive vibes and big hugs as she faces another massive health challenge. She has been through so much in recent years. Laura has been a wonderful support with my fundraising and is the genius responsible for the moving bear videos. She is a much loved and valuable friend x
This morning I went to Adams Park, the home of League 1 side Wycombe Wanderers. I was delivering close by, so I took my Bowelbabe teddy in the hope of getting a pitch side photo. Before the pandemic I had been there with my Stop Bowel Cancer bear, so I was hopeful they would be accommodating again. A lovely lady at reception knew all about Dame Deborah, and is in fact a follower of hers on Instagram, so she was happy to help and even came with me to take the photos. Please keep sending me your Bowelbabe photos. The teddies have now raised over £1250 for the Bowelbabe Fund.
I’ve received this nice letter from Dementia UK following a recent donation I made to them on behalf of Rebecca Slight and Ceirwyn Sutherland who bought a set of Gift-A-Bears and wanted the profits donated to a dementia charity. Their mother in New Zealand has dementia. Ceirwyn lives in London and Rebecca was recently over in the UK visiting, so they were able to gift the bears to a dementia care home local to Ceirwyn.
Finally I couldn’t let today pass without mentioning Storm, who was Prince’s mum and died on this day 5 years ago. Prince is of course such a massive credit to her. Storm had an aggressive form of Lymphoma and was not quite 11 when she died. She remains much missed, but I am so blessed to still have Prince who is just wonderful x
