Making phone calls has always been something I have not enjoyed doing especially to people I don’t know. Not the best thing when you are running a business! This morning I had two non-work calls to make and my new tactic is not overthinking too much and knowing that I will feel calmer once I’d made them. So I called the dentist to arrange a check-up and the plumber to arrange a boiler service and the installation of new radiators. Dentist all arranged and I left a voicemail for the plumber so a 50% success rate, but I am glad I just made the calls. Once again it’s just these little gains that I am working on.

I received a really nice email this morning from DJ Richard Latto who hosts an alternative music show on BBC Sounds every Saturday between 6.00 and 8.00pm. Each week he has a featured artist and he plays 3 tracks by them, and this Saturday he is going to play The Vapors. I sent in a request for their single News At Ten and included a photo of lead singer Dave Fenton and how I met him for my Lives & Times bowel cancer fundraising book a few years ago. He is going to tell that story on the show and play my request and I get some beer mats sent to me as a result! Happy Days!

More music news today. The Alarm’s 40th anniversary concert in Cardiff, first scheduled for June 2021 then rescheduled for this January, has now been put back to April 2023. All good things happen to those who wait and this gives me something to look forward to next year.

It’s always a great start to the day when you are anticipating a new music release. Today saw the release of Future Days Now by Billy Liberator and it certainly does not disappoint. A blinding track recorded with Steve ‘Smiley’ Barnard of The Alarm, so go and check it out on all digital music streaming and download platforms.

As well as my fundraising I am aware of the importance of raising awareness about bowel cancer. Far too many people are getting diagnosed at the late stage 4 phase. Patients stand a much better chance of surviving 5 years or more with an early diagnosis. More and more younger people are getting diagnosed, so this awful disease really can affect anyone… Bowel Cancer UK put up this short video today.

It’s been a good day overall. Bloody cold at work all day with some wet snow falling at teatime, so nice to be at home in the warm tonight. It has been lovely receiving some nice feedback and comments already. Back tomorrow x
