It’s been a busy day with thee Life of Mique teddy bears. The day started off with me being able to share a photo of the ex Scottish international footballer, Chris Iwelumo, with a teddy. His fiancée, Jade Annelise, bought a bear last week and sent me this cracking photo. All photos help to raise awareness about Monique’s Go Fund Me page and bowel cancer, but some high profile pictures can make a big difference. I’m very grateful for Chris and Jade’s support.
My work travels took me to Eton today, so it gave me the opportunity to photograph my own Life of Mique teddy. The one above was taken at the traffic lights by the college, but the ones I posted on social media earlier were more interesting for me personally, as they were taken on Windsor Bridge over the Thames which connects Windsor and Eton. As children Dad used to take us to Windsor most weekends to see the changing of the guard and if we were good we would then come back to visit a toy shop in Maidenhead and pick up a miniature toy soldier. The bridge was closed to traffic in 1970 and I can just about remember this as a very young child.
Farzaneh sent me a photo of her dog Carla with a teddy. Sadly Carla has cancer, but is doing very well at the moment, but it’s such a sweet photograph and shows another side to how the teddies can play a part in all manner of situations. Please keep sending me photos of the teddies…
I had to get another couple of teddies done tonight to be sent out tomorrow. The support for the bears has been absolutely amazing and is now creeping up towards the £1250 mark. Thank you to everyone for your incredible support. I know that we are routing for Monique and sending her all our love x
Work pretty much went to plan today. I did the trip to Eton taking in Maidenhead on the way. Then I was back at work in time to receive a big delivery, and then back out again with a panic order for bubble wrap. The day raced by and it was such a lovely day out in the sunshine. The work unit remains baltic though. Tomorrow we are going to an interesting place, hopefully I will manage to take a photo to post 🤞
I couldn’t let today pass without a mention of International Women’s Day. The posts on social media today have been amazing, and there is nothing I would want to try and add to what women are saying about women. My experience, especially within the cancer community, is that there are so many inspirational women out there doing so much to support others and blazing the trail in raising awareness and getting things talked about whilst going through the most difficult of situations… Until tomorrow x
