There were actually quite a few things that I could write about today, but the news tonight of Deborah James becoming a Dame is simply the best. In an era when the public lose faith in the honours list, when stuff appears to be handed out to mates as a matter of course, this honour bestowed on Deborah is so richly deserved and means so much to Deborah and her family, and to many thousands and thousands of us as well. Her tireless efforts to raise awareness about bowel cancer and raise millions of pounds to help prevent others suffering like she has is amazing. Since the news about her health broke a few days ago the public have shown their love and appreciation for Deborah and with the Bowelbabe Fund heading towards £4 million it’s simply staggering. Deborah is someone who has achieved more in the last 5 and a half years than most of us will achieve in our lifetimes. I salute you Dame Bowelbabe x
