The third track on A New Dawn is Friends, which was originally released last August to raise funds for Bowel Cancer UK marking the 5th anniversary of losing Mum x

The idea behind song came from the years of fundraising where I have been fortunate enough to have made so many new friends. In fact, it was a post by Laura Hopkinson, one of my much-valued new friends, that gave me the idea to write the song. There was a time in my life, especially when it came to dating, where I felt I didn’t need any more friends. I am happy to admit that I was totally wrong. You can never have enough friends, and this song was dedicated especially to all those new friends. It is not just about the support I have received for my fundraising, but it is also about making new and genuine friendships which have been nothing short of life changing.

When it came to recording the track, I enlisted the help of two friends and fellow fans of The Alarm (who both come into the above bracket) to provide some backing vocals. The amazingly talented Billy Liberator and Steve Webster, which made the track even better than I originally could have hoped for. They sent me their vocals remotely and both had to do their vocals on mobile phone apps due to me wanting to release it to coincide with Mum’s anniversary. Very grateful for the guys help and support.
