A rare sight these days is me dressing up either socially or for work, but today I had to go to the funeral of one of my customer’s at work, who we have known for over 30 years and who got on really well with Dad back in the day. I told his wife today how he used to come to our unit in Maidenhead to enjoy the fried breakfast baguettes on our estate 🙂

A challenge that I have with this kind of occasion especially when I know I won’t really know many people is my social anxiety. Last night and this morning I was trying to persuade myself not to go and it really did take all my effort to overcome this anxiety. As it was when I got there I was absolutely fine. It was was a really nice service and I was so glad that I got to learn a little more about the wonderful family man he was. I am off to North Wales this weekend and no doubt I will feel anxious before setting off for that as well.

A really lovely memory popped up today. Eight years since I went up Mount Snowdon with a group of friends to raise funds for Beating Bowel Cancer. It was a real eye-opener in terms of fundraising, as it showed me just how rewarding and successful such an event could be. Of course the scenery was quite spectacular and we were blessed with the most beautiful clear day, which meant we had amazing views at the summit! It’s perhaps time to think about doing this again…
