I drive to work pretty early in the mornings to avoid the traffic. I cross the River Thames at Sonning and with the clear blue skies this morning I knew it would be a good opportunity to capture the scene. I hadn’t realised quite how still the river would be to give me these great mirrored reflections. It’s so important to draw a breath during each day and take in what’s around you even at 7.00am.
Then later in the morning it was a completely different scene when I had to deliver to HMP Five Wells at Wellingborough. It did give me a rather unusual photo opportunity with the Bowelbabe teddy. Thankfully we were not detained! Please keep sending me the teddy bear photos as it is great to see where the bears go to and what they get up to. It raises awareness and also helps to spread the word and potentially encourage new sales x
I can now reveal that the final song that I am working on for the Fields of Dawn charity album is going back to the First World War and is about the football game during the truce on Christmas Day 1914. I love history and my grandad fought in the Great War. As a young child I was fascinated by his shrapnel wound on his leg and I know he was never in the best of health after gas poisoning. So I’ve come up with a song I am calling No-Man’s Land that is completely out on its own in terms of the rest of the album. If I can record it to its full potential it’s going to be a cracker. I am very grateful to Jason Bradley for playing keyboards on the track.
Tomorrow’s daily journal will be dedicated to my dad, as it will the 13th anniversary of losing him in 2009. Always a sad day, but plenty to smile about when I remember him too 😊 x
