Back in the recording studio

What tends to happen with my music is that I record a song and then release it straight away. This means that after each release I tend to have a few months away from the music. However, my ambition with this all along has been to release an album one day, and I realise that to do this means getting down to laying down some more tracks and upping my output, otherwise it will take another 2-3 years to make an album!

Last night I got the recording gear out again, and this was a little over a week since I finished the Check Your Poo track. When I started making music again just over a couple of years ago, the first song I released was an acoustic song called Sunrise. It was a song I wrote after Dad died in 2009 and was actually first song I recorded on the Boss digital recorder I bought at that time. It wasn’t a bad effort back then, but I knew I would like to have another crack it some day. This time, and for hopefully the album, I’ve done a full on electric band recording. I laid down all the instruments last night as I really got on a roll, and that just left the vocals to do tonight. So I’ve mixed it and it’s in the can. I am so pleased with it, and also proud of pushing myself in this creative direction. Hopefully I will keep up the momentum and look to make this album now.

Interestingly it makes such a difference being in such a better place at the moment. By removing much of the pressure that I had put myself under, I am now just enjoying writing and recording music. Of course I’d love the music to sell in decent quantities and raise plenty of money for the cancer charities, but as long as I make each track the best that I can, then there is little more I can and no point in worrying about things that I can’t control. That can also be said about a lot of things in life, and was made clear to me during my CBT therapy sessions.

One other bit of music news. One of friends on Facebook, messaged me tonight and said that the Check Your Poo song had popped up on his Spotify new releases feed. That’s awesome getting that kind of coverage, and hopefully will increase the amount of streams…

Absolutely glorious weather for Good Friday. I hope everyone has had an enjoyable start to the Easter weekend. Until tomorrow x
