Some really exciting news today and I am bursting with excitement! My Fields of Dawn fundraising track from last year, On The Way Back, is going to be played on BBC National Radio. Every Saturday night Richard Latto hosts Stereo Underground between 6.00 and 8.00 and it is broadcast around the world on BBC Sounds. I first exchanged messages him following the sad death of Greg Gilbert from Delays, and then a couple of weeks ago he played my request for The Vapours. I thought I would send him a cheeky email telling him about Fields of Dawn, and to my delight he has come back saying yes he will play it! I chose On The Way Back partly because it is getting streamed quite a lot at the moment, also because it was my most successful release of 2021, not forgetting the fact that Steve Smiley Barnard from The Alarm played drums on it and produced it, and finally because I love it! I’m not sure when it is going to be played yet, but I am buzzing like and excited teenager!
Another Gift-A-Bear photo arrived today. Lauren Fresa has stage 4 bowel cancer. The Buddy teddy bear has been gifted to her by Sara Williams, who herself is a breast cancer survivor having been through some really difficult years with cancer. I met Sara through the music of The Alarm, and she is one of the most loved members of The Alarm community. The fact that she wanted to gift Lauren a bear without ever having met her shows the lovely person that Sara is x
The teddies can be gifted to anyone or anyplace of your choice and you also get to decide which charity will benefit from the profits raised by your purchase. There are four bears to choose from. Buddy, Cuddles, Honey and Trooper. The profits from Sara’s purchase are being donated to Bowel Cancer UK. You could gift a bear to a children’s ward at a hospital or perhaps to a children’s hospice. You might want to gift a teddy to someone who has been going through a tough time who needs a lift, or just as a gift to a family member or friend on their birthday or any special occasion or for a specific event. Or just buy one for yourself. The bear can either be shipped direct to a recipient or to you to gift yourself.
The bears cost £20 each including postage or the set of four costs £70 and can be ordered from www.rivers2cross.com It’s a great way to give a gift and raise some money for a charity close to your heart at the same time.
With all that going on it’s easy to forget that the day started all masked up at the dentist. Got to go back for some fillings to be repaired next week. Work was pretty steady. I did local deliveries this morning in the glorious sunshine. This afternoon I found out that an order for bubble wrap I placed back in November had not been processed by my supplier. It was supposed to be delivered last Friday, and I thought I might have to wait weeks for it be made, but they are going to get it to me on Thursday thankfully. Not a first world problem of course 😊 Until tomorrow x
