My brother popped into work to have lunch with me and Prince today. To say Prince was happy to see him arrive was an understatement. Noel lives in Leeds and drives all over the country for his work. Today, he had to deliver to a place in Maidenhead, where Dad founded John Darvell Packaging Ltd back in 1976. In fact, yesterday was the 46th anniversary of the business being formed, so it was nice to be able to get together. There are lots of footpaths around the farm fields at work for walking dogs, and when he was younger I used to take Prince and his mum, Storm, out for wonderful walks at least twice a day. Sadly, Prince’s bad back stopped all that, but today we made it into the field, which we don’t often manage. Prince is in fact doing brilliantly at the moment. As you can tell from the photos, Prince does not like having his picture taken! 🤣 It was good to have a catch up with Noel, and hopefully the next time we see each other will be on a trip to Leeds for me and Prince.

Last weekend, I took three cuttings of one of Mum’s hydrangeas. We took quite a few of the plants with us when the folk’s house in Maidenhead was sold back in 2017. I think plants serve a lovely and special purpose in keeping a connection to the folks. I am hoping that I can manage to make these cuttings take. Although I have had some success with another hydrangea from their garden, I’ve tried cuttings from this plant twice before without succeeding. Early signs here are promising as the leaves still look healthy after 5 days in my kitchen, so fingers crossed this attempt will be successful.

Quite a bit happening on the charity bear front. Firstly, the bad news is that it now looks like the blue hoodies could be out of stock until next year! Sadly, as a result, I am going to have to remove them from the store. There are some Life of Mique teddy bear orders going out tomorrow, taking the total raised by the bears to £1300! As ever my thoughts are very much with Monique who is very unwell again. Tomorrow morning I will be delivering the first couple of Kindness Vs Cancer bears to their new homes in Didcot and Benson as I am going to Abingdon straight from home for work, so this will save on postage and add to the growing amount raised for Laura Kendrick’s fundraising campaign.

The other bit of news today is that I have ordered a new mobile phone. I have been due an upgrade for about a year, but I’ve decided to buy the phone upfront and save myself some money as a result. Sadly, leaving Google and the Pixel and going back to Samsung. Until tomorrow x
