The day when the whole of Britain is talking about Storm Eunice and most of us will have a story to tell of how it has affected our day. My original plan at work was to get two trips in the van done this morning. With the bad weather arriving from 10:00am onwards it was always going to be touch and go. My first trip went ok, but as I was heading back to work just before 10:00 I saw queuing traffic on the A404 near Marlow, which wasn’t a good sign. Thankfully, I just saw it in enough time to use the roundabout to do a U-turn and went back to work via Henley instead. As I headed back on A4155 to Medmenham there was no traffic coming the other way and it transpired that fallen trees were blocking the road, but the other side of work thankfully. Needless to say I abandoned the idea of going out again, and stayed at work for the rest of the day. As I left I saw two fallen trees on the edge of our farm estate. No major surprise as trees have fallen down here before. Driving to Wokingham after work was thankfully ok, but numerous trees were part blocking the roads. I was glad to get in tonight and close the door.
Tonight I have produced the first of the Life of Mique teddy bears in white t-shirts. With the blue hoodie situation likely to persist for a while I’ve decided that to keep the fundraising going to offer the bear in these t-shirts with a choice of 4 glitzy colours – gold, burgundy, dark blue and green. You can order them now. These bears will run alongside the hoodie ones, but will mean that there will always be something you can buy to support advanced bowel cancer patient, Monique Buckingham.
I’m not sure what the weekend has in store yet. The dog field, not surprisingly, has already been cancelled all weekend. Definitely not a safe place to be with all the trees there in these winds, as lesser storms have brought down trees there on a number of previous occasions. Until tomorrow x
