I am writing this in the final hour before A New Dawn is officially released on the stroke of midnight. t’s a period of national mourning that most of us will never have experienced before and as seems to be the way these days, especially on social media, emotions are running high with the usual bombardment of people telling us how we should feel and what should happen etc. I always come back to kindness these days. I would like to think I would treat others how I like to be treated myself. We all share many different views and we should try and respect that we are all entitled to our own opinions, whether we agree with others or not.
A rare sight these days is me dressing up either socially or for work, but today I had to go to the funeral of one of my customer’s at work, who we have known for over 30 years and who got on really well with Dad back in the day.
On this day 10 years ago, Mum had the operation to remove the tumour from her bowel. It was a lovely late summers / early autumn day as you can see from the photo I took whilst walking the dogs at work that day. This was the first of five major operations that Mum was to have, and there was little any of us could on that day, but wait for news from the hospital. The news when it came in the evening was good news as the operation had been a success.
On the back of the cover for A New Dawn there are a number of people who get special thanks. The album for the most part has been very much a solo project, which is as much down to circumstances as anything else. However, there are some people I wanted to thank.
I have never felt comfortable being on the receiving end of compliments, especially when it comes to my physical appearance. However, this is one of the things that I have been working on over the last 12 months. Recently, I have had a few people comment on how well I am looking, which is very kind and is a boost to my self-esteem. To be fair I am feeling good about myself at the moment.
I was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2013. I was passing very small amounts of blood but I had been alerted to the recognition of bowel cancer as a good friend of mine had recently been diagnosed with it so fairly reluctantly I booked an appointment to see the doctor.
Today is one of those rare days that we will always remember where we were when news of The Queen’s death was announced. A very sad day for the Nation and the Commonwealth. But perhaps most important of all is a family has lost a Mum, Granny and Great Granny, and my thoughts are with
This afternoon I had my appointment at Dermatology to have the mole on my lip assessed. Both the consultant and the doctor who looked at it couldn’t be sure if it is simply a mole or a stand alone cancer.
Bluebell was back at work with me today for what is becoming her weekly visit. We are training for the Love Hope Strength Beach Hike in North Wales on Saturday the 17th. It’s a 10-mile coastal walk and I’ve been building this young lady up over the last month as until recently she hadn’t done much distance walking.
