Today I picked up my copy of Freya North’s new book which is called Little Wing. It’s been a long time coming for her 15th novel, but I am sure that the wait will be worth it. I was very fortunate to meet Freya back in 2015 for my Lives & Times bowel cancer charity book. Freya is an ambassador for Bowel Cancer UK and at the time was for Beating Bowel Cancer before the charities merged. Freya had lost a very close friend, Hannah Berry, to bowel cancer, and at the time my mum was going through treatment. As it turned out we met before a gig in London by The Charlatans, who we both love, so it made perfect sense to meet there. Freya was incredibly supportive, fascinating to talk to, and getting to discover her books was the icing on the cake! Also on a self-care level buying myself little treats like this is ever so important and something that I do try to do, especially now as I am coming to terms with my depression and anxiety.

I was glad to close up work today. It’s been ok this week, but not without some niggly challenges. These involve potential change, and change is something that I am not so good at handling, and is one of my challenges moving forward. I need to be more open to change and opportunities. I do think that I have handled these challenges this week much better than I would have before I started treatment.

One lovely thing that happened today was receiving an email of thanks from the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice for the Gift-A-Bear delivery I made yesterday. It was really appreciated and I was able to pass it on to Jennifer in the USA who donated the bears. “Dear Tim, Many thanks for kindly popping into the hospice yesterday afternoon with the kind donation of gorgeous bears in hoodies. Please extend our condolences and thanks to your friend in the US for kindly allowing us to benefit from this kind donation. With very best wishes, Fay”

Tomorrow attention turns towards the airplay of On The Way Back on Stereo Underground on the BBC! I’ll no doubt have lots to say about that all over social media 😅 Until tomorrow x
