A slightly different music story today. I will be honest in that I am not a fan of the ukulele instrument. Today a slightly senior gentleman came to work to pick up some scrap cardboard I said he could have. He was a musician and had a vintage Australian bass guitar, I think a Maton, which he had decided to sell so as to give it to someone who would use it. He had a potential buyer in Australia, so he was going to use the cardboard to pack it up. It’s very difficult to have a stock box for something like that, but he was doing me a favour by taking away some of the cardboard, and of course I was helping him at the same time. The guitar is worth £2500! He used to play bass in big band music in London and I think he might have been quite a player back in the day. These days he runs a ukulele band and they basically do all their concerts for charity. I had images of a whole of musicians strumming ukuleles at the same time, but he assured me that the songs were all arranged with different parts. He also said that they absolutely refuse to play anything by George Formby 🤣 It’s fascinating how sometimes the unexpected can happen at work.
