I have made much greater efforts over recent months to treat myself or reward myself even. If I am honest self-care had kind of gone off my radar for a while. I think even when I did buy myself something I wasn’t appreciating the deed and so I didn’t really feel as happy and positive as I might. I think my focus was very much on the fundraising at the expense of everything else, and so I wasn’t really enjoying that either. Seeking help and the support I have received has helped me to rebalance and refocus, and although I know I have a way to go, the positivity and benefits I feel are massive. The bottom line is I have begun to enjoy life once again. This week I have received a double dose of music that is a nice gift to myself. I have received vinyls 3 and 4 of the 5 piece In The Poppy Fields collection by The Alarm, which is a 20th anniversary edition of a release previously only available on CD. I’ve also used some birthday gift vouchers to buy the two albums by Sea Girls, who I have only recently become aware about, but love their catchy guitar indie tunes.
It was another lovely Spring day and once again I had to have the air conditioning on in the van to keep Prince cool. A brief stand still on Cookham Bridge allowed me to snap this scene of The River Thames looking an absolute picture.
I also had an interesting visitor to work today. A man working on the film set of Midsomer Murders. Spoiler alert… The boxes are being used for a scene set in a bookshop where books are being packed up into my boxes! There are four new episodes being filmed for those of you who may be fans… It also brings back memories of Mum, who once was asked to ride her horse in the background when they filming at Littlewick Green. The episode featured John Nettles and a cricket match. Rather surprisingly a BAFTA was not forthcoming! 🤣 Until tomorrow x
