My second trip to London in three days to see what is the third of four concerts in 10 days! It’s been a while since I was able to say anything like that. I must admit the stamina is not quite up to speed yet, but nevertheless it was a brilliant evening watching Kim Wilde at The London Palladium last night.
I was fortunate enough to meet Kim in 2018 for my last fundraising book, and back then she told me how she kind of did things back to front in her career, learning her live craft after she had become a recording star. Last night she was every bit the pop superstar performing a wonderful greatest hits set. Her voice was absolutely top class and the band, which included her brother Ricky and niece Scarlett, was quite superb. It was not just a wonderful show, but a really good live gig. You name the hit, and she performed it, and the evening closed with a rousing finale of You Came followed by Kids In America.
The pandemic meant that this concert was two years later than originally planned but absolutely worth the wait! It all served as a reminder to me as to how much I enjoy live music and the joy it brings to my soul.
