Two very contrasting photos. Two incredible ladies who have advanced bowel cancer. This morning we woke to the wonderful news from Natalie that her most recent scans show no evidence of disease NED, an amazing achievement and something that not all bowel cancer patients will manage to attain. Natalie has been through the brutal and life-changing Pelvic Exenteration surgery, and shares her story, experience and how massively her life has changed on social media to help and support others. I took a screenshot of Monique this afternoon from her Instagram stories, where she had the incredible guts to share the devastating news that she has reached the end of the road for treatment options and now faces end of life care. Bowel cancer is f%&king horrendous. My love and thoughts are with both these special ladies today, and to anyone with bowel cancer x
As I approached work this morning the sun was rising, so I almost stopped to take a photo of my favourite tree, but instead I pressed on to my work estate where I was blessed with this incredible scene of the fishing lake and sunrise. The lake backs onto the estate and it can be such a peaceful and serene setting. A lovely way to start the day.
My current work attire will show you how cold it is inside my unit at work and how layered up I am. Thermals on, and my beanie and snood take the edge of it. However, this afternoon I think for the first time this winter I could sense the first signs of strength in the sun, and for me a sign that spring is not too far away. To be fair it’s not been a bad winter to date, although don’t be surprised if it has a sting in its tail! A pretty quiet day at work, but one nice order came in. The first two weeks in February are going to be pretty full on which will be a nice problem to have.
I’ve also spent some time today doing my CBT homework ahead of my final session on Monday. It has been a very positive and helpful experience. Plenty of work still ahead for me, but I have made significant progress for sure. Until tomorrow x
