Rain In The Summertime

Light rain showers they said! 🤣 It was actually quite pleasant when I arrived in Henley after lunch. I had Dad’s old regatta umbrella with me, and I was wondering if I would actually need it… I settled into my deckchair for the afternoon racing and the ominous dark clouds were gathering. When they decided to open boy did they and then some! It was torrential for about half an hour. Previous experienced has taught me that if you stay in seat and have a good umbrella you may as well stay put, which is what I did. 99% of the crowd vanished to find cover. The racing continued and the rain eventually passed. I was pleased to come home to a warm shower.

Running a one-man business makes taking time off incredibly challenging. For this week I tend to work mornings and then transfer the phone to my mobile for the afternoon at the regatta. Today was actually a busy morning and I did pretty well to get the amount done that I did. Tomorrow is similar with the added pain of a delivery due in. I am not going to hang on for it and will hopefully be able to get a neighbour to accept it if hasn’t arrived by the time I leave. I never get dressed up for work, as handling dirty packaging materials doesn’t really go hand in hand with a suit! In fact since the pandemic I have barely put on smart clothes at all. So this week has made a pleasant change. I hardly recognise myself!
