On the back of some amazing health good news, I think it is only right that I also share some Fields of Dawn news. I have begun work on album number three! It was only a week or two ago that I was talking about the end of Fields of Dawn as a fundraising entity. I’ll admit that I have been a little all over the place recently and it wasn’t easy seeing Destination Unknown unable to really make the massive fundraising impact I had hoped it would. Perhaps not helped by all the extra merchandise I produced. On their own, individually, not a major outlay, but added together I probably over invested, which all added to the pressure I put upon myself. Oh not forgetting the long long pre-sale which was, let’s face it, way too long!
So, after plenty of positive comments and support I’ve had a change of heart. I love making music and although I could have made music under my own name for example, I am proud that over the last four years I’ve built up a great platform for cancer fundraising with Fields of Dawn, so I want to continue to use it. Raising awareness still plays a vital role alongside the fundraising and the music can help to do that too. Things will be a little different moving forward though. I think the days of going over the top with all the extras are over and I will scale all that right back on future releases. If my financial outlay is reduced then I am sure the pressure I put myself under will also fall back.
I already know exactly what I want to do with the third album and how it will be done and I even know when I plan to release it. Don’t worry it’s not for a while! It might well be just available on CD and Download. I am also still rehearsing a live set, but that is still some way off due to me being far from match fit!
In the meantime I urge you to keep supporting Destination Unknown. It’s a cracking album that I still feel deserves to reach a wider audience. It’s raised over £500 so far and it would be great to see that rise even further!
