August saw The Majority return with a second release of 2023. Once again it was Ad’s amazing creative vision that turned my words and music into the most amazing track. We also wanted a female vocalist and we struck pure gold with the amazing Beki Hemingway, who I know through The Alarm. The end result was the perfect pop song, something we were so incredibly proud of. As well as releasing this in CD and Download, we did a limited 12″ release and for me that was a tick in the box to get a Majority song on vinyl after all these years…
After my surgery in July, it was decided that I should have a CT scan. This was to check a wider area for any abnormalities which might signify the presence of Von Hippau-Lindau disease. The results were good in so far that VHL was ruled out. What took me by surprise was the scan found nodules on my liver and lungs as well as a mass on my spleen. All considered benign but further monitoring would be required. My consultant was so good, because at this point he could have signed me off, but he wanted more scans at the end of the year to make sure everything was ok.
The last week in August is always a real rollercoaster on the emotional front. Both my folks birthdays fall then, as well as the anniversary of losing Mum. Add in my sister’s wedding anniversary! There is a barely a day in that week without significance. I navigated the week pretty well this year. It’s always an anxious time beforehand, but as time goes on I am able to focus a lot more on the happy times, which hasn’t always been easy to do.
