#bowelbear Charlie went inside his first football ground today at Northampton Town FC. An attempt to get into Elland Road, the home of Leeds United, failed before Christmas. Not to be deterred however, we had a break for lunch outside the PTS Academy Stadium in Northampton, and decided to try our luck. We received a very warm welcome, and the club couldn’t have been more supportive allowing us to go pitch-side to take some photos.

The stop bowel cancer bears are raising awareness about bowel cancer and funds for Bowel Cancer UK. Why not buy a bear and take it on a whole new adventure? My mum died of bowel cancer in 2016 – it’s the second biggest cancer killer in the UK with 16,000 deaths occurring each year. However, if detected early it can be successfully treated in over 90% of cases.

The forthcoming charity book has a connection with the stadium in Northampton. In 2017 I met and photographed Deborah James at the cinema there. Sadly, Debs, who had stage 4 bowel cancer, died a couple of months later, but the chapter remains as written at the time for the book.

Thanks again to Northampton Town for their brilliant support. Where will the bear go next?
