In a time when the world feels like a pretty dark place to be living in, it’s important to remember that there is still so much goodness out there and so many wonderfully selfless people. This beautiful photo was sent to me a few months ago by Kingsley Wood and was the culmination of a wonderful act of kindness by Mike Starner.
Shining Star is a three track EP with the lead track written about wonderful Laura x It is available on Clear Vinyl, CD and Download. I hope as many people as possible will, support this release and help me raise as much money as possible. I find it more and more difficult to find stations that cater for my own musical tastes, so I am doing it myself. Eventide by The Faith Brothers is perhaps a dessert island disc track for me. The dilemma was whether to play the “hymn for change” version or the more upbeat guitar version. In the end I decided to play both back to back! Another all time favourite is One Step Closer To Home by The Alarm. The live version I am playing is from the BBC in Concert recording from the Hammersmith Odeon in May 1985, which I went to.
Show number 4 is maintaining the high standard set by the previous 3 shows to date. The show begins with genius Half Drunk Under A Full Moon by The Fratellis. If you have never heard it before, believe me when I say that you are in for a treat. It’s a track that is almost worth the free admission price alone
The Gathering is my annual pilgrimage to see Mike Peters and The Alarm. My favourite band for coming up to 41 years now going back to the release of The Stand, which I first heard on John Peel. This was my 22nd consecutive UK Gathering in a row alongside a couple of New York Gatherings. Anyone who knows me will be aware of how my Alarm experience has dramatically changed in recent years.
The first day of release saw Destination Unknown and Fields of Dawn set a record that can never be surpassed! No matter what the future holds or how Fields of Dawn are remembered nothing can take this record away
