In a few days time I will be flying to New York for a weekend of live music with The Alarm. Last May I made the same trip, and managed to keep the raising bowel cancer awareness theme going throughout the weekend. As we are currently in bowel cancer awareness month, this time will be no different, so watch out for plenty of photos. Last year the very successful Stop Bowel Cancer T-Shirts were in full view, and I got a photo wearing my pink one with the magnificent Brooklyn Bridge in the background.
In fact I had barely been in New York five minutes when a mad local grabbed me and took me to see the brilliant Blondie mural, which I would have probably missed if I hadn’t bumped into this kind soul. He got me to stand in front of the mural, and never one to miss out on an opportunity to raise awareness about bowel cancer, I highlighted my Stop Bowel Cancer Wristband in posts on social media.
Of course you don’t have to go to New York to help raise awareness about bowel cancer. There are so many ways to help especially during April. The smallest thing like a comment, a share on social media, a photo, or just getting people to talk about bowel cancer in any shape or form. It’s been a terrific first week during bowel cancer awareness month, let’s carry on during week 2.
