A real milestone today in the build up to the release of Destination Unknown with the arrival of 100 CDs. To see and be able to touch the finished product makes it all seem that much more real. The artwork by Sanclementebetty is off the scale making it look just so damn good. After I finished recording the album I made a CD for the car and I play it most days. However, putting a blank CD with the music on is one thing, but playing the printed CD is just something else…

CDs are still a very popular format, certainly for DIY musical projects like Fields of Dawn. The sound quality on a CD is superb. You can burn them to digital format and if you are like me and don’t have a modern car you will most likely still have a CD player in your vehicle.

From a fundraising point of view the margins on CDs are pretty good. I could have gone for a digipak design or a hard traditional plastic wallet, but these packaging luxuries eat into the margins and these printed cardboard sleeves are stunning in any case.

To sell 100 CDs will take some doing and the odds are stacked against me, but I will give it my best shot. Personally I think the music stands up there as is worth a tenner, and then throw in the cancer fundraising element as well, I think it’s great value for money and doing some good at the same time.

Of course not everyone has a CD player these days. Some prefer the digital format, so there is both a Flash Drive version and a Download that you can order. For others vinyl is still the holy grail, and for this album we have a clear vinyl.

Destination Unknown is released on New Years Day, so starting the new year off with an absolute band! 100% of the profits from every single sale are donated to three amazing cancer charities. Love Hope Strength, Bowel Cancer UK and The Bowel Movement. Around £300 has been raised through pre-sales so far. Please keep the support coming it really is greatly appreciated x
