To mark the 5th anniversary of losing Mum to bowel cancer, there is a brand new Fields of Dawn charity music release available to pre-order now. All profits raised by sales of the two track single Friends / Majority are being donated equally between Bowel Cancer UK and Love Hope Strength. Bowel Cancer UK is the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity, and Love Hope Strength, the cancer charity co-founded by Mike Peters of The Alarm who has been living with leukaemia for over 20 years.

The idea behind the lead track Friends comes from nine years of fundraising where I have been fortunate enough to have made so many new friends. There was a time in my life, especially when it came to dating, where I felt I didn’t need any more friends. I am happy to admit that I was totally wrong. You can never have enough friends, and this song is dedicated to every one of you. It is not just about the support I have received for my fundraising, but it is also about making new and genuine friendships which have nothing short of life-changing.

I am pleased to announce that friends (who both come into the above bracket) and the bloody amazingly talented Billy Liberator and Steve Webster provide backing vocals on Friends which just takes it to a new level. The sleeve artwork comes courtesy of Adam Green, who was the man behind the Lives & Times Silk Screen Prints a few years ago.

The Majority Live in 1985

The second track Majority was the first track I wrote for the band The Majority that was a whole load of fun during the mid 1980s. We were heavily influenced by The Alarm. The band’s name came from a song by The Alarm, and we played a couple of cover versions of Alarm tracks during our set. This is the first time that I have recorded the track on my own and the first time I have attempted the vocals on it.

The pre-sale is live with a scheduled release date of September 30th all being well… Thank you to every one who has supported Fields of Dawn releases since the beginning of 2020. I’ll carry on doing this whilst people are still up for it. Recording an album is the ultimate dream…
