It’s over seven years since Mum was diagnosed with bowel cancer, and my fundraising journey began. To date around £10,000 has been raised. Mum’s death in 2016 has only served to drive me on with the fundraising and raising awareness.
In 2020 I am hoping to concentrate on fundraising at events. The idea being that I can take the books, cuddly toys and anything else from the website to sell at events. I also have the beginnings of an idea to hold an event at my house in the new year.
Here are a few of my ideas as to how it might work.
- Afternoon event
- Light refreshments with a donation tin
- Get people to bake and bring a cake
- Everyone attending buys an item. I have three books, various cuddly toys, art, and t-shirts – so something for everyone
- An auction open to everyone. I could approach some of the amazing people I have met over the years to see if they might donate items. I think this might work better than a raffle, but that is also an option.
- Support both charities – Bowel Cancer UK and Love Hope Strength
I would be grateful for any suggestions and ideas that might help with this idea. I am thinking the event would take in January / February.
Also if there any events happening next year that you might think would be good for me please let me know…
