L’hotel de ville (town hall) was one of the first French words I learned at school when we followed the adventures of Bertillon family – Papa, Maman,
Philippe, Marie-Claude and Alain in the textbook Le français d’aujourd’hui. As a result it remains one of my favourite French words. Melissa and Steve recently went to a wedding in Magnac-Laval en France, and took their stop bowel cancer bear Balbao along with them, and sent me this cracking photo.
April is bowel cancer awareness month, and the bears are travelling far and wide helping to raise awareness about bowel cancer, which is the UK’s second highest cancer killer with 16,000 people dying every year. My mum died from this awful disease in 2016. It is a very treatable cancer if caught early, so raising awareness is really important.
The bowel bears are available on my rivers2cross.com website, with all proceeds raised donated to Bowel Cancer UK.
