By giving myself 5 months to get the new Fields of Dawn album organised for release, I took a bit of the pressure off myself. The first format to arrive in October were the CDs which looked absolutely stunning. I have SanClementeBetty Art & Design to thank for all the artwork, which was used on the music and other merchandise like the t-shirts. The biggest decision I had to make was how many copies of each format to order. I decided that I couldn’t afford to go silly with the vinyl LPs this time. So rather than get 100 copies made in the Far East, I stuck to the UK for a smaller run of 20. A lot more expensive, but much less of a financial gamble for me. I did order 100 copies of the CD, which was being over confident as there are still the vast majority left. So if you know anyone who might like one…
A hometown gig in Reading with From The Jam and The Skids. I hadn’t seen either band since before lockdown so it had been a while. It was a great evening. Richard Jobson is an incredible front man for The Skids and they played all the old classics from their catalogue getting everyone nicely warmed up. From The Jam are just great, playing The Jam songs as they were originally performed back in the day.

Fortunately after 24 hours and with some antihistamine tablets, the swelling began to go down. This was the second time in a matter of months that I had been stung after years of avoiding stings. If I swell up like this nowadays then I hope I can avoid stings in the future…
October also saw the loss of a friend in the bowel cancer community. Jen McEntee was just 35 years old. The news came as a massive shock. She had been doing so well and was off treatment. She had kindly supported The Final Post being one of the 12 amazing ladies that narrated Nicole Coopers final post on social media. Perhaps it was her act of kindness, especially the time when she posted me a bar of Toblerone that I will remember most. Jen lived in Ireland, so unfortunately I never got to meet her in person. That is one of the difficult things with bowel cancer. The having to say goodbye to friends that in some cases you never actually get to meet in person…
