Show 44 was another live broadcast last week and the third week on the bounce with no technical glitches. It has been a sharp learning curve over the last 3 months, since switching from pre-recorded shows to live broadcasts. The biggest thing I have done to try and prevent technical issues is to hard wire the internet connection and also to disconnect any other devices connected to the internet while I am broadcasting. Touch wood, everything is now running smoothly.

Of course, the main thing is to make sure I maintain a high standard of music. This is without doubt what I am spending the most time on and working hardest at. Choosing songs that I like and that I hope you will like too. I try to keep a good balance of old and new and make sure the show flows. I feel the show, now 10 months in, has found a nice identity for itself. This week, for example, I wasn’t happy with the original playlist I had put together, so half a dozen songs were dropped. Not necessarily because I didn’t like them, but more because I didn’t feel the tracklist had a great flow to it. Ultimately if I am not totally happy with the flow, then how can I expect the listener to?

It’s always good to have The Wedding Present in the showm and this week really is one of my favourite tracks, even if it is a cover version. Much as I enjoy playing The Alarm a lot on the shows this week we had Mike Peters solo for a change. A brand new album by Department S, their first in 8 years, dropped last week, so the belting track Triumph and Regret had to be included. The new track from Bilk from their forthcoming second album gets a play, although I am not too sure about theit more recent releases. We finished with The Cure, who are currently riding high with their new album. I haven’t found a track on it that I want to play on ther show, so I’ve stuck with an older song from them.

So please have a listen to the broadcast, which is at the top of this post. Spread the word and let’s keep building this little show. As I always I really appreiate any constructive feedback x
