Show 8 is available to listen to right now! Each week I am playing about 16 tracks, although this week there is an extra track, which after my spiel in between tracks makes up about an hour’s worth on the kind of music that I would love to hear on the radio. I find it more and more difficult to find stations that cater for my own musical tastes, so I am doing it myself. The programme is free to listen to on MixCloud and you can even listen to the show directly at the top of this blog!
Some absolute gems this week, not least opening with Holiday In Cambodia by The Dead Kennedys. There is an extra track closing the show in tribute to Wallinger of World Party who sadly this week aged just 66. I’ve included Careless Memories by Duran Duran which shows just how closely the early New Romantic music was to New Wave. The track Sounds Of The City by Dykeenies is one of my favourite singles of the 21st century, although not many agreed with me at the time as it didn’t trouble the charts. There is a brilliant early demo of Lust To Love by The Go Gos and also the amazing London Bridge by Dogs. In fact this week’s show has been a show of discovery for me with plenty of music I missed out on when it originally came out, which is just the way I like it! I’m An Upstart by The Angelic Upstarts is dedicated to Facebook friend and fellow Alarm fan, Andrew Brosnan, who is currently recovering from life-saving heart surgery x
