February 7th saw the release of Sunrise by my new new music project Fields of Dawn. The song is available to buy and stream with all profits raised donated to the Love Hope Strength Foundation co-founded by Mike Peters of The Alarm. Please click here to buy a copy.

The Love Hope Strength Foundation was co-founded by Mike Peters of The Alarm. The charity promotes innovative, music related, outreach and awareness programmes for leukaemia and cancer sufferers, survivors and their families. It raises awareness and recruits potential donors to the organ and bone marrow registers.

Sunrise is as acoustic track written and performed by myself. The song is about coming to terms with losing someone and looking to the future, and it was actually written after my dad died following a short illness in 2009.

I recorded the song using my Boss 900 BR multi-track digital recorder. I used a Samson C03 condenser microphone. The guitar is my Auden limited edition Deceiver guitar as used by Mike Peters on stage for The Alarm. The guitar was played through a Carlsbro Sherwood 20 acoustic amplifier. The cover artwork was a photo taken by my friend Lily Elsayed.

I thought it would be fun to see if the track could make the top 100 of the UK singles chart. Research suggested that it would need to sell 2,500 copies during the first week of release to do this. Of course this was highly unlikely to happen, and unsurprisingly we fell somewhat short of achieving this. I’m very grateful for all the support for the song, and every sale and stream really counts.

Sunrise is available on iTunes, Amazon, Google Music, Spotify, and all other major digital music platforms. It costs £0.79 – £0.99 to buy or is free to stream. Click here to buy.

One final bit of fun if you use the Stories feature on Facebook or Instagram you can now use Sunrise by Fields of Dawn in the music feature. Give it a go!
