Whilst we freeze in the UK and face months of winter, on the other side of the world Sue and Rebecca have been having an absolute riot in Sydney with the cuddly toys they have so kindly bought from the rivers2cross shop. Sydney is one of my favourite places on this planet, but its been 9 years since my last visit.. All profits from sales of everything on rivers2cross is donated to cancer charities. At the moment I am supporting Bowel Cancer UK in memory of my mum, and Love Hope Strength, whose purpose is to raise funds and awareness in order to benefit people with cancer and leukaemia. As we enter the festive season please take a look at the shop by clicking here. Books, Art, and Cuddly Toys plus lots more are available. The support this year has been incredible.
Poodolph the Bowel Cancer Reindeer is getting ready for Christmas – his busy time of the year.. The genius name was the idea of bowel cancer survivor Heather Grimes, and Poodolph has already been a great success raising awareness about bowel cancer, as well as funds for Bowel Cancer UK.
Poodolph got to meet an Aboriginal man, who Sue said was very happy to pose for a photo. He also got to see some Aussie art, and get his first view of koalas and kangaroos.
Sue also has named her Love Hope Strength Bear “Dee Dee”. These bears support the charity of the same name co-founded by Mike Peters of The Alarm. Dee Dee is pictured here with Poodolph on the steps of the Sydney Opera House.
Sue also has two Stop Bowel Cancer Bears “Harry” and “Steve” pictured here enjoying the Australian spring sunshine. As you can see in the main photo the smoke from the bush fires has reached Sydney. In fact Sue lives pretty close to where the fires are raging. The Stop Bowel Cancer Bears are raising funds for Bowel Cancer UK, and over the last 12 months the many many bears have been seen all over the world. Hopefully during 2020 many more adventures will be had by all the bears out there.
Rebecca lives in New Zealand and is currently on a short break in Australia, which also involves watching 80s music – a major passion of hers. Rebecca and Sue had previously only met each other in London, so it was great for them to meet on home territory. Rebecca is back in London before Christmas and will be collecting her Poodolph then. Her Stop Bowel Cancer Bear is called “Rusty”, and he has had a busy year, and these photos are terrific.
I am so glad to have made contact with Sue and Rebecca, and hopefully one day soon I will get to meet them in person. It’s been such a positive making really lovely friendships through the fundraising. I’d like to thank the ladies for their wonderful support over the last 12 months, I am truly grateful.
