Here is #bowelbear Betty at Birmingham Town Hall attending the Holy Holy gig tonight. Taking the bears to gigs is a great way for getting decent photos with them. It will also be fascinating to see just how many gigs the bears can get to… Thanks so much to Lizzie Hulme for her support, and for sending me this cracking photo.
Holy Holy is a supergroup that performs the songs of David Bowie from the classic 1969-1973 period. The band features Bowie’s drummer Woody Woodmansey, and musician and producer Tony Visconti. Also in the band is James Stevenson of The Alarm, and the brilliant Jessica Lee Morgan. I’ve not seen the show yet, but all the reports are good, so it’s something I hope to get to see at some point in the future.
The stop bowel cancer teddy bears are raising awareness about bowel cancer. It’s the second biggest cancer killer in the UK with 16,000 people dying each year. At the early stage 1, bowel cancer can be successfully treated in over 90% of cases. At the late stage 4, this figure drops to just 7%. Early detection is therefore key, but at the moment only 15% of cases are diagnosed at stage 1. The bears are available in the online shop and all proceeds raised are donated to Bowel Cancer UK. So why not adopt a bear and take it on an adventure…
