Work on the first new Majority song in over 20 years, Shadows and Souls, is nearing completion, so today a brief teaser from an early mix. Both me and Ad are really happy with this track and how it is sounding. We’ve decided that we want to get this track out there as soon as we can, so that we can begin to build the band’s profile after being away for so long. The plan is to release this song on digital platforms and see what kind of reaction we get. It is possible that it might get a physical release, but that would largely depend on demand.

The song is very much a joint collaboration. I might have written the music and lyrics, but Ad has been instrumental for the sound and direction this song has taken. In my opinion taking it to another level and more than deserves to have a song writing credit for his massive input. When we last recorded on a 4-track Tascam Portastudio we worked really well together and over 20 years later the dynamic we have is still there. Very different though as we live 150 miles apart, so it’s all being done remotely at the moment on computers.

For the last 3 years I have worked really hard on the Fields of Dawn music and last year Ad’s musical project AdJon Provocateur released the superb Firedoor EP which is well worth checking out. There’s no doubt in my mind that there will be many similarities between The Majority and Fields of Dawn, which is why I am so excited by this first song, as it is so completely different from any of the music I’ve made with Fields of Dawn, and to be fair The Majority first time around. It’s an epic recording and did I mention comes in at around 8 minutes long!
