Finally, finally, finally everything that I hoped for in Jodie Whitakker as Dr Who came to be in The Power of the Doctor last night. An absolutely brilliant episode to bring to close her tenure as the time lord. The shackles were released and it had everything and more you could hope in a season finale. So many nods to the past, present and can I say even the past future? Chris Chibnall pulled out all the stops and his writing for the episode was particularly clever standing up there with any of the classic Dr Who scripts. Not going to say any more, but just bloody superb!

Last night was another stunning sunset. The weather had been all over the place all day. It was pouring when I got to the dog field in the morning, but had turned to brilliant sunshine by the time I left. The heavens open once again late afternoon with a menacing storm of rain, thunder and lighting. This then made way for this stunning sunset at the end of the day.

I worked really hard over the summer to bring the Fields of Dawn album, A New Dawn, to fruition. This week it went past £1000 in fundraising for Bowel Cancer UK, Love Hoe Strength & The Bowel Movement. Yesterday Dave Francis played No Man’s Land from the album on his lunchtime show on Radio Albatross. Perhaps quite fitting as I am currently working on a Chirstmas release, so I had the The Deceiver guitar out last night recording some new material.

The idea I have is to release No Man’s Land as the lead song on a three-track EP. The song is about the legendary game of football that took place between the Allies and Germans on Christmas Day 1914 during an unofficial truce. Obviously I want to add something for those people who have already got the track on the album, so I am currently recording a couple of extra acoustic tracks for the release. News At Ten by The Vapors will be the first ever cover song from Fields of Dawn. The song was originally the follow up to their massive Turning Japanese hit and is one of my all-time favourite songs. A big risk for me and perhaps even sacrilege to even try doing it. There will also be a stripped back version of perhaps Fields of Dawn’s best received track to date, On The Way Back. If the two acoustic recordings work then the Reflections EP will come out as a digital only release before Christmas once again raising funds for Bowel Cancer UK, Love Hope Strength and The Bowel Movement.
