I have been reading so many amazing and inspiring posts today on social media for World Cancer Day. It’s true that no-one chooses to be a part of the cancer club, but the amount of love and support from countless wonderful human beings is almost too hard to put into words. I wish that all treatments were available to everyone, and that the level of care was not down to where you lived. AND I wish that younger patients did not have their symptoms ignored because they are “too young” to get cancer!!! Far too many younger patients get diagnosed at the late advanced stage when long term survival chances are greatly decreased.

Losing Mum to bowel cancer was awful. I am thankful that she led a full and happy life, which is something that not all patients are fortunate enough to get to enjoy. If someone had told me 11 years ago that I would end up fundraising for a decade making so many wonderful friendships in the process I would never have believed them. What started out as a book to celebrate Mum “beating bowel cancer” has changed my life. At the start I didn’t even think about anything further than raising a few pounds for charity. I have subsequently been fortunate to meet and hear people’s inspiring life stories, and built friendships that I value so highly whether these are people I meet in real life or on social media. My intention this year is to try and meet some of you who I haven’t yet met in person. I will continue to try and raise awareness about bowel cancer, and will keep going with the fundraising, and apologise in advance for what I am sure will quite repetitive posts trying to sell my items on www.rivers2cross.com

I spent an hour and a half at work today packing up, labelling and posting more orders of the Life of Mique teddy bears. This leaves about 10 more to do on Monday. Of course I am still hoping to get some more orders 🤞 Tonight I donated another £100 to Monique’s Go Fund Me page, which means over £450 has been raised by the bears so far thanks to your wonderful support. Just after donating the latest update about Monique is not good news. Her health has deteriorated over the last 24 hours and she is now very ill. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers xx

So after a busy week at work and a manic week of teddy bear sales, tonight I am chilling out and having a night off 😊 Until tomorrow x
