When I began writing The Record after Mum’s death in 2016 the first thing I decided was to approach the bowel cancer community to support the book. I didn’t want the book to be purely about bowel cancer, but I was not going to shy away from the subject matter either. Six months ago I contacted my GP about my mental health and referred myself to Talking Therapies. My doctor prescribed me a low daily dosage of Sertraline and I had a course of CBT therapy on Talking Therapies. Today I had my three monthly check up to see how I am doing. The good news

Over the last 24 hours I’ve introduced Mr Poo to my social media posts for raising awareness about bowel cancer. Who knew how much fun could be had creating a talking turd! More importantly it gave me the opportunity to further raise the issue of checking your poo for blood, which is one of the

Colours coming out in my garden. This Wisteria is one of my success stories. It’s actually in a pot, which I guess has restricted it’s spread, but I think it’s actually just the right size and at least the trellising survives! Tonight I have been mixing the new music recording of the track called Destiny.

As it’s bowel cancer awareness month, I thought that I would try and articulate a little of mum’s cancer from my perspective. I know that relatives can be regarded as carers, but that certainly didn’t apply to me with mum, who was very independent throughout her cancer until the final few months. She remained a

The main event today was the launch of the Check Your Poo video. In some ways making the video was more time consuming than recording the music. Getting the support of so many amazing people means the absolute world to me, and without this incredible support this kind of video would not be possible. I
