A sense of community has really hit home this week. So many kind people doing so many kind things. Today, I picked up a beautifully presented package at the post office kindly sent to me by Holly from Elysian Botonaicals. This lovely small family business offer a range of essential oil and botanical blends to help with emotional well-being, which is something that I am very much focused on these days. I know Holly’s sister, Laura, through the bowel cancer community. She has stage 4 bowel cancer and is such a kind and generous person and has been through more than most people could ever fully understand. Yet she still finds time to support others and raise awareness about bowel cancer. She very much typifies the spirit of the cancer community and the type of wonderful people that exist within it x So this connection to Holly would probably never have materialised without that bowel cancer link. I already use a bath ritual and the amazing peace mist on my sheets, so hopefully these pulse point roller balls will be a great addition to my collection.

Teresa Drysdale’s Collection

I’ve donated £454.52 from sales of the Kindness Vs Cancer teddy bears to Laura Kendrick’s justgiving campaign page, which has raised over £22,000 for her Kindness Vs Cancer campaign. Laura’s husband Grant has been so supportive of this idea and her friends have really come together to help get the bears delivered without paying for the postage, so as to enable me to donate more money from each sale. This kind of community spirit and coming together is so heart-warming especially at such a sad time following Laura’s recent passing. The photo is from Teresa Drysdale, who I know through the music of The Alarm. Teresa’s partner Michael also recently died of bowel cancer, and they have both been amazing supporters of my fundraising over the last few years.

Talking of coming together and community spirit, well I know how much meeting Monique Buckingham and selling the Life of Mique teddy bears has profoundly affected me. To be welcomed by Monique and her family so warmly and then to receive the amazing support from people literally all over the world really reaffirmed in me the goodness that is very much out there in ordinary people x

The tulips really sprang into life today in the pot I keep at work which then goes on the folk’s grave each spring with daffodils also on the way. I need to get this to the church in the next few days. It’s been a good and positive day, and the weather was just the perfect early springtime weather that we crave as we say goodbye to winter. Until tomorrow x
