Bowel Cancer Fundraising Award

Last night I collected an award for my fundraising efforts for Bowel Cancer UK. The award, given by The Aldworth Lodge, was for £500 to be donated to the charity of my given choice, so the cheque is going to Bowel Cancer UK. It is a rare opportunity for me to blow my own trumpet, and as passionate as I am about fundraising being in the spotlight is not something I am overly comfortable with. However, it was a very generous gesture for which I am very grateful. To explain, I am not a member of The Aldworth Lodge, but I went to the school to which they are affiliated.

I began fundraising in 2012 after mum’s first operation, which removed the tumour from her bowel. It’s something that over the years I have become enthusiastic and passionate about, as well as raising awareness about bowel cancer. After mum died, I knew it would be something that I would want to continue with.

Of course the fundraising would be nothing without the continued and very generous support of everyone. I cannot begin to thank each and every one of you who has donated, sponsored and / or bought something from me.

This December I am attempting to grow a beard for the first time in my life, which should be interesting. #Decembeard is being done to raise funds for Bowel Cancer UK, and once again all donations to the cause will be greatly appreciated https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/bcuk-decembeard-2018-2968
