One of the biggest challenges since the publication of The Record is its promotion. Those that know me, especially on social media, will be aware of how once I get the bit between my teeth I will bang on about my products and charity fundraising, and I have certainly been doing that since the book was published about a month ago. For the rest of 2019 I will continue to promote The Record to try and generate as much interest and sales as I can.

However, I am looking for some help with this, as self-promoting a book is challenging. I am always grateful for shares, and retweets, and reposts on social media, and I hope this will continue. What I am also looking for is for people to do some original posts of their own, as it is always nice to see someone else posting about the book rather than just me all the time. Also, I am interested in promotional ideas that I perhaps haven’t thought of… And of course I’d love for people to continue to buy The Record.

The Record is out now..

The Record has so far raised around £600 for Bowel Cancer UK which is fantastic. Thank you to everyone who has bought the book so far. However, it’s proving hard to break it past family and friends, and the bowel cancer community into the big wide book buying world.

At this early stage The Record hasn’t sold as many copies as my previous charity book Lives & Times did. I have been trying to figure out why, and maybe people are a little fatigued by my fundraising which has been pretty constant for almost seven years now. Perhaps it is time for me to give everyone a break? I remain so very passionate and extremely proud of The Record – I think it’s a pretty fine book. At the end of the day bowel cancer is not a “sexy” subject, so I knew that selling a book that includes it would not be easy.

All proceeds raised from sales of The Record are donated to Bowel Cancer UK in memory of my mum who died of this awful disease in 2016.

Click here to order The Record. It’s also available from all good online book retailers.

  • Keep on Tim! If you can reach out to a University that teaches PR – you could look for a student or class that would take your nook on as a project to promote. It would be great if you could get some media attention and book signing engagements.

The PR project could include reaching out to cancer centers and bowel cancer specialusts (doctors) to purchase and put on their waiting room tables.

Writing to lical news shows – tv and radio – for interview invites. Asking the same celebrities you’ve interviewed to promote the book on tbeir social xhannels, especially ones with lots of charity infuence.

Writing to the same people who have declined to be part of the book asking them to purchase a copy.

I like making this a class project – it’s a non-profit and students would get practical experience. U’m sure you could go to more than one university.

You’ve come a long way to make this happen and I applaud you asking for help. Of there is something specific I can help with in the states, please let me know.
