Thoughts on The Record

Over the course of the last ten years there have been the inevitable highs and lows as far as the fundraising goes, although many more highs thankfully. If one project during that time can illustrate pretty everything that was going on inside my head then it was the writing of The Record, my third and most recent book, which was published on June 21st, 2019.

Jules Peters Talks Life, Music, and Cancer

One of the last people I spoke to for The Record was Jules Peters. This chapter was a long time in the making, and when a meeting with Jules before The Alarm’s December 2018 gig in Reading had to be cancelled, I did wonder if my opportunity might have gone. However, we had a brief chat in Llandudno at The Gathering in early 2019, and Jules was still keen to support the book, so plans were put in place to make it happen.

Bowel Cancer Community

When I began writing The Record after Mum’s death in 2016 the first thing I decided was to approach the bowel cancer community to support the book. I didn’t want the book to be purely about bowel cancer, but I was not going to shy away from the subject matter either. After all I had just lost my mum to this awful disease, I was dedicating the book to her memory, and I set out with purpose of producing a book that would raise funds for Bowel Cancer UK.
