My latest bowel cancer fundraising book The Record was published in 2019. It took me almost three years to complete, and contains chapters of my meetings with famous people from the worlds of music, sport and television, as well as some truly amazing and inspirational people from the bowel cancer community. Everyone taking part told me about the first record that they bought.

Sadly two bowel cancer patients who featured in the book have sadly passed away. Kelly Smith and Deborah James, both extraordinary inspirational young mothers were taken far too soon. Their tragic deaths only serve to make me more determined to continue with my own fundraising and raising awareness about bowel cancer.

I have been fundraising since 2012, after Mum was diagnosed with bowel cancer and had the operation to remove the tumour. She lived with stage 4 bowel cancer for four and half years, but sadly died on August 29th, 2016. The book is dedicated to her memory.

Bowel cancer is the second biggest cancer killer in the UK. 16,000 lives are lost each year. However, if detected early at stage 1 it can be successfully treated in over 90% of cases. This figure falls dramatically to just 7% when diagnosis occurs at the late stage 4. Early diagnosis is therefore key and raising awareness about bowel cancer is vital.
