I was delighted when Justin Sullivan and New Model Army agreed to be in my new bowel cancer charity book, The Record. The band kindly gave me a photo pass for their gig at the O2 Forum in December 2017, giving me a fantastic opportunity to photograph them in concert, and I also was able to put some questions to Justin including what was the first record he bought, which is a belter. It was approaching 35 years since I’d bought their Bittersweet single, which I still have in my record collection.

The Record is out now, and can be bought from the rivers2cross online store, and all good online book retailers. All proceeds from sales of the book are being donated to Bowel Cancer UK in memory of my mum, who died of bowel cancer in August 2016 just a few days after 80th birthday. The Record took me two and a half years to complete, and features people from the worlds of music, sport, television and the bowel cancer community.

Bowel cancer is the second highest cancer killer in the UK claiming 16,000 lives each year. However, if detected early it can be successfully treated in over 90% of cases. Much more needs to be done in raising awareness about this awful disease, and improving early diagnosis rates.
