A New Dawn – The Debut Album from Fields of Dawn

The debut fundraising album from my music project Fields of Dawn was released last September and so far has raised over £1300. A New Dawn is available on vinyl, CD and digital download. Two tracks were recorded with Steve Smiley Barnard of The Alarm at the helm and the other other 9 songs all self-produced. The songs were written by myself and have a punky, alternative, melodic perhaps power pop sound to them. The one track that is the exception to this is No Man’s Land, which is a piano ballad about that legendary football match during World War 1, which also featured on the Reflections EP that came out last Christmas.

The Final Post – Community

I have been fundraising and raising awareness about bowel cancer since 2012, the year Mum was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer and had her first bowel operation. It all began with the Beating Bowel Cancer book. I had come across the Beating Bowel Cancer charity and and rather naively thought that after a successful operation Mum had indeed beaten the cancer. So I thought what a perfect title for a book. One thing that has never changed since that book was published has been the numerous friendships that I have made and continue to make. I began fundraising as a bit of a loner and the bowel cancer community and the support and friendship, if I am being totally honest, took me by surprise.

Mental Health Update February 2023

This week has been a big week and perhaps the right time for me to update everyone on my mental health. My 57th birthday was on February 21st. I had a call from my sister wishing me happy birthday and she asked how I was. Without thinking or having any kind of response ready I said that I felt content and at peace.

Valentines Day 2023

It was gut-wrenchingly sad today to hear the news from Melbourne about the death to bowel cancer of Nicole Cooper. One of the kindest and most wonderful souls, who did so much to advocate for bowel cancer patients and raise awareness about bowel cancer.

The Majority – Shadows and Souls Official Video

The response so far to the first new Majority song in 24 years, Shadows and Souls, has been amazing. The first run of CDs sold out way ahead of the release date, so a second run is now being done. Until today only a couple of short snippets of the song had been released, so we are delighted to now being able to bring you the official video. Hopefully you will like both the song and the video. We would love to hear what you think?

The Majority – Shadows and Souls (Teaser)

Work on Shadows and Souls is nearing completion, so today a brief teaser from an early mix. Both me and Ad are really happy with this track and how it is sounding. We’ve decided that we want to get this track out there as soon as we can, so that we can begin to build the band’s profile after being away for so long. The plan is to put this song on digital platforms and see what kind of reaction we get. It is possible that it might get a physical release, but that would largely depend on demand.

2023 – The Majority Are Back

Now, in 2023, myself and Ad are bringing The Majority back after over 20 years. We both have our other musical projects going, but modern technology allows us to work remotely, and we can revisit some of the old songs, but write some new songs too hopefully.

2022 in Review – December

Finally, as the year draws to a close we arrive in December. After the mild Autumn the blast of Winter we had for about 10 days was hideous. The temperature in my unit on the farm was bitterly cold and not much fun at all. I was so pleased to see a return to the mild temperatures before Christmas. However, lovely to be able to get a picture of Prince in the snow.
