Some fantastic news on the fundraising during the week when The Record will celebrate its first birthday. It has now raised £950 for Bowel Cancer UK, and I thank every single one of you who has kindly bought a copy of the book so far. I have been trying very hard not to set myself too many targets, but with £1000 now firmly in sight it would be a fantastic achievement if the book could reach that milestone. Of course this can only be done with your continued support, so please keep the support coming if you can.

The Record is available as a paperback, eBook and hardback. Please click here to see all the ways that you can buy the book. The Record was written in memory of my mum who died of bowel cancer in 2016. It took me almost three years to complete, and contains chapters of my meetings with famous people from the worlds of music, sport and television, as well as some truly amazing and inspirational people from the bowel cancer community.

I have been fundraising since 2012, after Mum was diagnosed with bowel cancer and had the operation to remove the tumour. She lived with stage 4 bowel cancer for four and half years, but sadly died on August 29th, 2016. The book is dedicated to her memory.

Bowel cancer is the second biggest cancer killer in the UK. 16,000 lives are lost each year. However, if detected early at stage 1 it can be successfully treated in over 90% of cases. This figure falls dramatically to just 7% when diagnosis occurs at the late stage 4. Early diagnosis is therefore key and raising awareness about bowel cancer is vital.
